Well naturally I had to stop and see what this was all about. Little did I know I would be entering a cave of wonders!
I was extremely warmly welcomed straight away and offered a drink and piece of cake (it would be rude to say no!) I spoke to a charming lady called Sharon who told me all about her work. She was displaying her art and furniture along with another lady called Mary. I think you will agree that their work is incredible. They go to auctions and second hand shops and find tired items that need some attention.
They started by doing projects for their friends and family and decided that would have an open day at their home to showcase their art to others to get some feedback. They want to take on commission work so if there is a piece of furniture in your home that could do with some TLC then contact these lovely ladies.
A lot of it had sold by the time I arrived but I did manage to pick up this little gem for a more than reasonable £20 (the other suitcases were also not sold)
A truly unique piece I think you will agree. I hope they will do another Open Studio Day again in the near future. After this we went to the river and watched the local cricket team, drank champagne and ate some chocolate. A gorgeous day!
If you would like to contact these ladies their email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Also you may have noticed some ceramic items in the photos, these are handmade by Carol and her email address is email@example.com. Carol is also taking on commissions.
